Bag Boys at the Grocery Store

I learned something new today. Did you know that at all the grocery stores, whether it is El Rey, Super 99, Super Baru or Romero’s that the bag boys are not employed by the store. I am not sure as to how arrangements are made for them to be there but I know that the stores do not pay them. They work for tips.

I know I have seen people tip when the bag boy takes bags to the car for people. However I did not know that it is customary to tip  them after they have bagged your groceries and handed you the bags. I was told that 25 cents  to $1.00 would be a good tip for these hard working kids. So from now on, that is what we are going to do. Just a heads up.
