We Made It- Luggage and All
For those of you who are following us as we travel to our new country, an update. Last evening we landed at Toucumen Airport in Panama City in what was a horrific rain storm. Although we could not complain as the temperature was a balmy 82 degrees at 7 PM.
We hefted our 4 – 50 lb bags from the luggage carousel and we whisked them through customs luggage screening. Thank goodness we had a luggage cart to wheel them out into the warm night air where a plethora of men wanted us to use their taxi’s. After a moments hesitation we picked a nice man who politely took care of getting our luggage into the van and drove us about 20 minutes through downtown Panama City to our hotel.
When we were here before we fell in love with the neighborhood we were in called El Cangrejo. It is number one safe and it also has a lot of hotels and good inexpensive restaurants ( some of which I will tell you about.) When we came in July we stayed at the Wyndham Veneto. It was very nice and we got a good deal at the time, however it did not have a kitchen.
This time we are staying across the street from the Veneto at Torres De Alba Apart Hotel. This place is great. We are on the 12th floor and have a separate kitchen, bedroom and living room. We also have our very own large washer and dryer. Free breakfast is included and they have a wonderful sun deck and swimming pool. (We have already done some sun worshiping today.)
Here are some pics of today out of our window at Torres de Alba.
